My wife and I (girfriend at the time) were in the car. We were thirty minutes into the three hour drive between our respective home towns. She was driving and I was in the passenger seat checking emails on my phone.
Two years prior to this I got introduced to leadership guru John Maxwell through an MLM company I was involved in at the time. Since then I've been on one of his email lists, and now a new email had been recieved. But this email didn't contain the "ordinary content". It contained the announcement that I could get certified and trained by John in person! Wow!
I jumped at the button in the email and got redirected to a landing page where someone who clearly wasn't John started talking. I had never seen this guy before but it was my first encounter with Paul Martinelli, who since then has played a very important part in my personal development journey along with Roddy Galbraith who also was (and still is) a member of the JMT Faculty.
... I jumped at the offer of becoming a Founding Member of the John Maxwell Team that Paul presented. This led in turn to two amazing live events in West Palm Beach, Florida, in 2012 and to a lot of new friends from all over the world.
The interesting thing about my JMT endeavours is - in retrospect - that what I bought and what I got out of it are two completely different things - read more on that here.
